Road to Golden Hands Bridge in Vietnam

There is one road leading up to Golden Hands Bridge at Ba Na Hills (1,400 meters above sea level). It’s around 15 kilometers long, starting at the roundabout in the entrance of Ba Na Hills golf course (on Ba Na Suoi Mo Road). It’s known for many hairpin-like bends, high gradients, and hardly supports two-way traffic. During the rainy season, the mountain soaks into the fog, causing potential dangers to both drivers and passengers. Meanwhile, heavy rains and strong winds are other factors that make getting there by road will be a good choice.

Back to history, the road to Ba Na Hills sitting atop Chua Mountain, was constructed in the early 20th century by French people. At that time, the peak zone served as a hill station and resort. However, due to old-fashioned building technology, this road is narrow and bumpy, still causing difficulties to colonists and travelers. In the 1990s, it’s improved to carry materials to build the second Linh Ung Pagoda in Da Nang (now the city has 3). Visitors could drive up there to visit by car, small bus and motorbike. In 2009, when the first cable car at Ba Na Hills was inaugurated, it’s officially closed. Trucks which carry food and materials for new constructions are allowed to enter it only.

Today, visitors can see the road going up to Ba Na Hills from the direct cable car to Golden Hands Bridge (Hoi An Station to Marseille Station). Between October and January, it will be impossible to observe it from above on many days, due to the midst.

Cable Cars to Golden Hands Bridge in Vietnam

Due to the above-mentioned reasons, taking the cable car is the only way to go up to Golden Hands Bridge. For foreign visitors, the ticket price now is 950,000 VND (approximately 40 USD) per adult and children above 1,39 meters, and 750,000 VND (approximately 30 USD) per children from 1 to 1,39 meters, and free of charge for children under 1 meter. Today, there are 5 cable car routes in Ba Na Hills theme park where Golden Hands Bridge is located. One of them brings visitors directly to the bridge. That is the route from the Hoi An Station to the Marseille Station. It takes passengers from 20 to 30 minutes to finish a ride if take this cable car route, depending on weather conditions. From the Suoi Mo Station, visitors can take the cable car to the Ba Na Station. After that, have a 2-minute funicular ride up to the hilltop where Golden Hands Bridge sits. From the arrival (upper) station, only a short walk is needed to see the bridge.
